LEMOINE was selected by the North Lafourche Levee District as the contractor for this critical section of flood protection infrastructure. The project consisted of the clearing, grubbing, and degrading of over 3.5 miles of existing flood protection levee in the marshes & low-lying areas between Mathews and Lockport, Louisiana. A new parallel canal was excavated, facilitating the placement & compaction of over 520,000 CY of embankment material into a new levee lift on top of the existing levee and adjacent to the new canal. Additionally, three separate retention pond levees were relocated along this critical drainage system, and aggregate access roads were constructed to the existing pump station at the end of the reach.
