The scope of this project consists of consolidating three (3) existing Water Districts in Cameron Parish: Cameron Parish Water and Wastewater District No. 1 (Cameron), Cameron Parish Waterworks District No. 7 (Creole), and Cameron Parish Waterworks District No. 9 (Grand Chenier). To achieve the consolidation, improvements to the existing infrastructure is necessary to perform various improvements throughout the newly consolidated district. These include two major components; approximately 43,622 linear feet of water distribution lines and treatment modifications to the existing treatment system to transition to a chloramine-based disinfection process. A large portion of the water treatment work involves the raising of five (5) existing water wells such these are not affected by a hurricane tidal surge (the above picture is an existing previously raised well). This will require the removal and refurbishment of the existing water well equipment, construction of foundations capable of withstanding the dynamics of water/wave loading, erection of structural platforms, re-installation of refurbished wells, new water treatment equipment, piping, electrical and control improvements. Additionally, two (2) existing elevated well platforms will be enlarged and modified with new water treatment equipment, and five sites will be modified with new platforms and water treatment equipment such they do not loose treatment capability in the event of a hurricane. The wells on these five sites were previously raised and will be constructed similarly to the sites where we are raising the wells.
